Positive Behaviour Management
Time & Location
About The Event
During the day, Sue Cowley will use a combination of training slides, practical demonstrations and group discussions to help staff examine, develop and improve their skills in dealing with behaviour. This session will explore the importance of high expectations, consistency and quality communication and examine ways to develop children's self regulation skills and look at how you can build their independence. You will also explore how you can best engage your children with learning and develop their intrinsic motivation, looking in detail at some individual children, to work out how to best meet their needs. Sue's key objective for the day is to share plenty of practical strategies that you can take back to your setting to improve behaviour.
The day will cover:-
- Positive Teaching Styles - thinking about which aspects work, and which need development and the vital role played by both the teacher’s use of voice, and also non verbal signals.
- The Positive Classroom - the role of rewards and sanctions in creating a climate for better behaviour and examine own responses to being rewarded or sanctioned, and to relate this to how they work with children.
- The Positive Lesson - in this energetic and practical session Sue will explore the role that high quality teaching and learning plays in getting better behaviour
- Theory into Practice: Putting it into Action - putting the ideas learnt during the day into action for the classroom. Examine why behaviour issues are occurring with specific children and how to move forwards to form better relationships and improved behaviour.
Suitable for Teachers, Teaching Assistants and Senior Leaders for EYFS, KS1 and KS2.
